Don't call it a Hot Tub

Hot Spring Spas is the largest manufacturer of spas in the USA. Spas that seat ten people. Spas with waterfalls. Spas with multicolored lighting. Spas with built-in sound systems and flat panel TVs. Round spas, square spas, triangular spas. We don't call them hot tubs and we never, never use the "J" word on the set. Photographing one is like photographing an inverted Ferrari..........with a waterfall.

AIGA Link San Diego

This is my third year working with the kids in the AIGA San Diego Link program. The program is designed to encourage and educate high school disadvantaged and at-risk youth with an interest in art and design. We photographed each student's design project with them doing the styling, propping and art direction. They were stoked to get high res images of their designs. The students produced some really cool projects.

What the heck is that?

The Elliptigo Glide bike! We just completed studio photography for the website launch of Elliptigo. Part elliptical trainer, part bicycle the Elliptigo was created out of necessity. Co founder and Ironman triathlete, Bryan Pate was forced to engage in low-impact excercise due to knee & hip injuries. Bryan prefered the elliptical trainer over a bicycle, but didn't like being stuck in a gym. This bike is fast and climbs like a champ. Last July Bryan and co founder, Brent completed the 129 mile Sierra Death ride on Elliptigos with 5 mountin passes and over 15000 feet of climbing.

Happenstance Charity Photo Show

I was invited to donate a print for the Happenstance photo exhibition at Subtext Gallery. 29 other San Diego photographers are contributing to the show. The images will be auctioned with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Monarch School. Founded in 1988, Monarch School and its committed team of teachers, administrators and volunteers is dedicated to providing homeless and at-risk children with an accredited education while caring for their basic needs. Today, more than 100 kids between the ages of 7 and 18 are enrolled. My image is the old trailer (Upper right).

We Love Halloween!

This is our tenth year providing photography for Disguise, a leader in the costume industry and a really fun client. Their team of designers and sculptors create some very cool costumes, masks and accessories.

Consumers spent almost 6 billion dollars on the holiday last year. For 2009 vampires are top of the list with politicians & nurses dropping off.

For us, it's not just about selling costumes, it's getting people come out of their shells and transform themselves into the characters.

Disguise does it right, utilizing the best talent, make up, styling and of course, photography.

Super Control Freak Lecture

The American Society of Media Photographers asked me to do a lecture outlining my style of lighting. 65 people showed up. I've participated in events as a panelist, but this was my first solo lecture. Other than my dog, Chelsea stealing someone’s slice of pizza, all went well.
